First Conference of Chairs

The Botanical Garden hosts on Friday the first Conference of Chairs of the Universitat, with the motto ‘23 years together’. The encounter will start at 9:30 with the participation of the principal Esteban Morcillo; the general director of Universities, Research and Science, Josefina Bueno; and the vice-principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation, Guillermo Palao. The objective of the encounter is to bridge the gap and carry out joint actions between public institutions and chairs, done by the Universitat from 23 years ago. However, these days it has become more important due to the present economic situation.

The opening conference of the day will be given by Ismael Pantaleón. It will be on the ‘Creation of high performance creative teams between university-enterprise’. Then, some debate sessions will be carried out. They will be moderated by the vice-principal Guillermo Palao. The first session will be on good practices and the creation of teams to innovate through university chairs. The second one will be about the present and future of the bond university-enterprise through university chairs. The people responsible of different enterprises and chairs will participate in these sessions, as well as the autonomic secretary of the Valencian Department of Transparency, Social Responsibility and Cooperation, Zulima Pérez; and the autonomic secretary of Housing, Public Works and Structuring of the Territory, Josep Vicent Boira. The sessions will be closed by Guillermo Palao and Josep Vicent Boira.

The Vice-Principal for International Relations and Cooperation sets out this session in a double perspective: to recognise the collaboration work between enterprises and institutions with the Universitat during the 23 years of trajectory of the programme of Institutional and Enterprise Chairs. This session also wants to make people aware of the new institutional strategy of the University Chairs programme under the motto “Collaborating, we grow up together”. Its purpose is to contribute to approach the University to the demands and needs of the Valencian enterprises and institutions.

23 years together

The Institutional and Enterprise Chairs of the Universitat de València were created in 1993 as tools to direct the collaborations between entities, institutions, enterprises, organisations and individuals. These chairs of the Universitat are configured as collaborating tools of the Universitat de València with enterprises and external institutions, both public and private.

Due to their structural characteristics, the Chairs of the Universitat enable to achieve a stable and wide academic collaboration which reaches one or more areas of knowledge and which extends its activities to all the areas of the university activity: teaching, research, innovation and transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as cultural diffusion and science.

This joint strategy is based on the objectives gathered in the University Constitution of the Universitat de València and in the compliance, on the part of the institutions, entities, organisations and enterprises of its original purposes and the main lines of action in terms of the social corporate responsibility.

In recent years there has been an increase in the number of Chairs in the Universitat. The accumulated experience advises the approval of a rule that regulates its creation and functioning, the powers of its management boards and the management procedures.
