The meeting of the Council began with the first item on the agenda concerning the objective of advancing the implementation of the public offering of 2026 PDI. The first matter addressed the transformation of a series of positions for faculty promotion corresponding to the 2026-2027 academic year. In total, the change of 369 positions was approved, which will contribute to the stabilisation of the teaching staff.

40 assistant professors will be transformed into permanent teaching staff positions, with contracts ending on 31 December 2027 (40 PPL). 58 positions of assistant professors into Tenured Lecturer, with contracts ending on 31 December 2027 (58 TU). 54 positions of assistant professors into permanent teaching staff, with their contracts ending in 30 September 2029 (54 PPL). 30 positions of assistant professor into Tenured Lecturer, with contracts ending on 30 September 2029 (30 TU). 102 positions for professors hired as permanent teaching staff into Tenured Lecturers (102 TU). 1 position of permanent teaching staff into university full professor (1 CU). 84 university full professors for the promotion of University Tenured Lecturer (84 CU).

In addition, the calls, profiles and selection committees for the positions in the different teaching categories have also been approved. In total, there will be 369 selection committees. This proposal, together with the one for the transformation of positions, received a favourable report from the Faculty Commission at the meeting of 11 June. The proposal includes 94 selection committees for promotion to PPL, 190 tribunals for promotion to TU, 1 for promotion for university full professor through the free-shift system, and 84 for promotion to University full professor.

After the approval of these positions conducted by the Governing Council of the Universitat, the increase associated to the budget of the Generalitat’s Council is still pending–which is expected to be addressed at a future session–, as well as the publication of the DOGV and the BOE. After these steps have been completed, the approval will become effective. 

176 new positions of assistant professor

In addition, 176 new positions of assistant professor at the Universitat de València have been approved (DOGV 8/06/26). Of these, 98 correspond to the Maria Goyri state programme –a programme for incorporating teaching and researcher talent funded by the Generalitat Valenciana–, and 78 involve the transformation of vacant positions into assistant professors.
