Since 2017, the Universitat de València (UV) counts on the prestigious seal “HR Excellence in Research”, given by the European Commission to institutions that guarantee a fair and transparent work environment for researchers. This award is based on the implementation of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), aligned with the European Charter for Researchers and the code of conduct for the recruitment of researchers.
The commitment of the UV to continuously improve regarding the management of its human resources for research has turned into the adoption of equitable procedures and the promotion of the quality and impact of the research. The HRS4R has as its main objective to guarantee a stimulating work environment, encouraging equal opportunities, mobility, and the recognition of the research personnel. To do this, the institutions in favour conduct a detailed analysis of their policies and develop an action plan aimed at continuous improvement.
Key principles of HRS4R
The European Charter for Researchers establishes fundamental principles like the freedom of research, professional responsibility, and the dissemination of results. In turn, the code of conduct for the recruitment of researchers guarantees open, transparent, and merit-based selection processes. The combination of these principles provides a solid structure for the hiring and development of more equitable and sustainable research careers.
Process of renovation of the HR seal
In this context, the UV is in the process of renewing the HR seal, which involves a revision of its progress and the definition of new measures to keep improving its human resources policies. On 16 April, a delegation of the European Commission will assess the accomplished progress and will send out recommendations to strengthen even more the strategies of the institution.
A commitment to excellence
This renovation represents an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the UV to excellence in research and to the creation of an environment that pushes forward talent, innovation, and professional development in its research community. During the next three years, the university will implement a new action plan based on recommendations, assuring that it continues to be an example of human resources management in research at the European level.
