The Universitat de València (UV) is the official headquarters for the Open House Valencia 2024 Festival that will take place from 25 to 27 October, with more than a hundred activities to bring closer to society the historic and cultural building legacy from the city of Valencia and from some of the towns that have sum up to the proposal. Guided tours, urban tours, panel discussions and contests compose the programme of this date, that offers different formulas to participate: most of the activities are of free access, and other require a previous registration, etc.
Coinciding with the 525 anniversary of the UV foundation, Open House has chosen the academic institution as the festival’s headquarters. The most emblematic historic buildings from the UV, some of them of Cultural Interest or Local Relevance, offer guided tours in this “macrofestival” of Valencian architecture.
The five architectonic spaces from the UV that will participate on this guided tours are: the La Nau Cultural Centre, the Prinicpal Peset Hall of Residence, the Botanical Garden, the Palau de Cerveró and the Faculty of Geography and History. All of them are part of the 83 emblematic buildings catalogue from the city of Valencia that will offer free guided tours during this weekend. The Botanical Garden will host, in addition, the close-up of the Open House Valencia Festival, on Sunday 27 at 7pm.
The La Nau Cultural Centre is the historical institution, founded in 1499, from private houses that were slowly acquired for the location of the classrooms. Therefore, this year it is celebrated the 525 anniversary of its creation. Subdue to many interventions, its current image goes back to the 19th century when the facades started to be connected. It was declared of Cultural Interest in 1981. The Botanical Garden, of extended history and good reference in botanical studies, is also of Cultural Interest since 2006. Other buildings have been acquired by the University restructuring its use for the use by the university community and the Valencian community: the Palau de Cerveró, of Local Relevance, where the López Piñero Institute for the History of Medicine and Science is located, and the Prinicpal Peset Hall of Residence, located in an elegant lord house from the 18th century, complete this group.
Inside the Open House Valencia, there are free guided tours to the different centres. The tours to La Nau Cultural Centre and to the Prinicpal Peset Hall of Residence will be 26 Saturday, October from 10am to 2pm. The Botanical Garden will be open from 4pm to 7pm and on Sunday from 11am to 2pm. 25 Friday, will be availability to visit the Faculty of Geography and History and the Palau de Cerveró, from 4pm to 8pm.
