The Universitat de València remembers the 50 year anniversary of the Carnation Revolution with a conference in La Nau

La Nau Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València remembers the 50 year anniversary of the Carnation Revolution with a conference of the Portuguese professor Ana Sofia Ferreira. The event will take place next Monday 21 October at 6:00pm, in the UV's Aula Magna. With this conference, this course's programme for the History and Democratic Memory Society will be inaugurated. The meeting will be coordinated and presented by Toni Morant, Contemporary History professor in the UV.
The Carnation revolution (25 April 1974) finished with the most long-lasting European dictatorship of the 20th century and, although they were different processes, it had an influence on the start and development of the democratic recuperation process in Spain.
The conference "50 años de la Revolución de Abril: historia y memoria" will be presented by Ana Sofia Ferreira, professor of the Letters Faculty of the Universidade do Porto and research associate to the Sociology Institute of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Ferreira is a specialist on 20th century Portuguese history and author of many publications. Her research has addressed diverse themes as the resistance and political violence against the dictatorship of the Estado Novo or the labour movement and the left, among others Moreover, she often collaborates with Spanish historiography.
The History and Democratic Memory Society of the Universitat de València, that is part of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society, boosts and raises awareness about the history related initiatives and the democratic memory on the academic field and approaches them to Valencian society.
