By its part, The Universitat sent a total of 1,847 students to other European Universities within the Erasmus programme. Either to study or internship stays. Most popular destinations among UV students were Italy, United Kingdom, Germany and France, in that order.

Data reflects that Spain is still the country receiving the largest number of Erasmus students in 2015-2016 academic year with 45,813 students, and the third country sending Erasmus Students in Europe.

30 years of Erasmus Programme

In 1987, the ERASMUS program (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) was created to promote the exchange of students in European universities. The Universitat de València has participated in the program since that year and has managed to get close to 50,000 students -including incoming and outgoing students- to participate in the programme.

In this way, 2017 has been the year of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus+ Programme. For three decades, Erasmus + has offered, especially to young people, opportunities to acquire new experiences and to extend their horizons by travelling abroad. What started as a modest mobility programme for higher education students in 1987, with only 3,200 students in its first year, has become an emblematic programme which about 300,000 higher education students benefit from every year.

The Erasmus+ programme total budget for 2018 in Spain will amount to 202,401,943 euros, which is 13.5 % more than the previous year. Furthermore, the Universitat de València will continue supporting the participation of its students in the Erasmus+ programme with its own scholarship programme and reinforcing the participation of the institution in other actions of the program, such as mobility with partner countries or participation in European projects.
