On Wednesday, 6th June, at 17.30h, at the Paraninfo of the Universitat, it will take place a tribute to pioneering women in the management of university departments and institutes. More than 65 women will be protagonists, including Neus Campillo, Josepa Cuco, Emilia Salvador, Enriqueta Vercher, Matilde Fernández, Chantal Ferrer, Remedios Roqueta, Dulce Contreras, Carmen Alborch among others.
The tribute is the continuation of the one that began two years ago following a study commissioned by the Equality Unit to Professor Isabel Morant to identify the pioneering women academics in government and university academic management in each of the structures that make up the University.
To date, around one hundred women have been honoured, including general government posts (vice-rectors, secretaries general) and general management positions (vice-principals, secretaries), deans, deputy of the deans, secretaries and undersecretaries of each of the faculties and institutes of the Universitat de València. Furthermore, the first women centre administrators and pioneers in university services have also received a tribute.
The Equality Unit realises annual events aimed at recovering the historical memory of women, who with their work and effort contributed to the growth of our university institution into what is now the Universitat de València.
The Universitat pretends with this act the recognition to the work and compromise of the women pioneering in the government and university management.
