The Vice-Principal for Training Policies and Educational Quality of the Universitat de València Ramón López has received from Juan Carlos González, delegate of the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (FEDER) in the Valencian Community a recognition certificate for their commitment with the entity. The main reason is the delivery of 3.000 euros collected during the event Healthy Route, which took place last Sunday 1st October.
The director of the University Extension Service Amparo Pérez, the FEDER’s social worker Zaira Martín and the technician of the Universitat Maite Almela participated in the event, which took place this Thursday at the Office of the Principal of the Universitat.
Both Juan Carlos González and Zaira Martín have emphasised the importance of these donation since the money can be set aside for research or for projects to improve the life quality. In case of the Universitat, the money will be set aside for the last option. Not in vain, FEDER counts on seven options for direct actions for people with rare diseases within these projects. Thus, the entity gives psychological support and offers an information, orientation, inclusion, legal, and associative management service as well as a programme for healthcare products access.
Besides, Ramón López and Juan Carlos González have signed a collaboration agreement to ease the cooperation between institutions in the education and research fields. La Universitat is interested in raising awareness about the situation of the people who suffer from a rare disease and in raising money to help them.
FEDER Comunitat Valenciana is formed by 31 associations and acts in name of the people who suffer from one of these diseases in the Valencian territory: 360.000 affected people. These associations are small and without many resources. The Federación counts on different types of collaborative partners depending on the help possibilities for the rare diseases associations.
