Twenty universities from the Vives Network, including the University of Valencia, are carrying out the fieldwork of the programme Via Universitària: Access, learning conditions, expectations and returns of university studies (2020-2022). Between February and March over 43,000 undergraduate and master’s students can participate in the programme through the online survey available at the university’s Virtual Office .

Via Universitària is a tool to define gender and social equity policies in the university system. It is aligned with the results of the Eurostudent report, which gathers the same information in 28 European countries. The Via Universitària (2020-2022) report will examine student paths from a triple perspective: equity in acessing and living in higher education, the transformation of students’ reality due to an increasingly diverse social environment, and the quality of teaching and learning methodologies.

The results of the study, which are scheduled for publication in May 2022, will not only be used as a toolf for reflection and discussion, but also will inform the decisions and guidelines of the university policy developed both by the universities themselves and the public administrations.

The survey: sixty-one questions divided into five thematic blocks

The Via Universitària survey contains sixty-one questions divided into five blocks. The students will asses their personal trajectory at the university, as well as their living, learning and study conditions. A block addresses the expectations they have for their professional future as well. The study also analyses the students’ daily lives and their level of involvement in the university’s cultural and social activities. Throughout the survey students can assess the impact of the health crisis on their studies and university experience. At the end of the questionnaire socio-demographic data is compiled, which will enable a detailed analysis of the programme’s key elements according to the profile of the survey participants.

The third edition of the Vives Network Via Universitària programme is promoted by the following universities: Abad Oliba CEU, Alacant, Andorra, Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, CEU Cardenal Herrera, Girona, Illes Balears, Internacional de Catalunya, Jaume I, Lleida, Miguel Hernández d’Elx, Oberta de Catalunya, Politècnica de Catalunya, Politècnica de València, Pompeu Fabra, Ramon Llull, Rovira i Virgili, València, and Vic Central de Catalunya. The Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU) is responsible for technical direction. The programme also has the support of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education of Andorra (AQUA), the Valencian Assessment and Forecasting Agency (AVAP) and the Catalan government.
