The Universitat de València continues keeping in touch with the public health authorities of the Valencian government (Generalitat Valenciana). Ever since the first cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) were detected in China, the Universitat de València has maintained contact with health authorities and the students that follow the courses in those regions that the Spanish government considers most affected by the virus: the north of Italy (140 students in 11 universities that have previously suspended all study activities for the following 15 days), Japan (4 students), and South Korea (1 student).

As one case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) was recently detected in Castellón, Universitat de València coordinated with Universitat Jaume I and the local health authorities that all practices in hospitals and healthcare centres in the province of Castellón should be suspended for a period of 15 days.

This decision was taken as a preventive measure and affects only 10 students of the Universitat de València, 5 of which follow the undergraduate degree in Pharmacy (2 of them are Erasmus students), 2 students of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, 1 student of the double degree in Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics, 1 student of Physiotherapy, and 1 student of the Specific Master in Special Physiotherapy in Suelo Pélvico.

The principal of the Universitat de València has personally reached out to every student, explaining them the situation and stressing that “even though there may be no risk (...), we take this preventive measure (because) people are more important.” A number of e-mails have been sent directly to the students to clarify their doubts regarding this measure.
