The UV offers €161,200 in refugee grants

The Universitat de València announces the International Refugee Plan 2024 grants for students. It offers an opportunity to continue their education at the UV for refugee students, mainly those from Afghanistan and Palestine.

The International Refugee Plan of the UV aims to offer an opportunity for students from countries with ongoing armed conflicts or that violate human rights to receive an education at the UV. Thus, actively contributing to the integration and personal and academic development of these students, refugees seeking international protection.

Grants intended for Afghanistan and Palestine
The procedure for awarding the grants will be carried out on a competitive basis, giving priority to applicants who are currently beneficiaries of the call for Afghan women 2023/2024, for the continuation of their undergraduate studies.

Priority will be given to those candidates who are Palestinian.

Components of the grants
The grants comprise the following components:

  • Payment of tuition fees for studies at the UV
  • Accommodation and allowance, full board, at the Hall of Residence
  • Repatriation, medical assistance and civil liability insurance
  • Spanish course during the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025, at the Language Centre of the Universitat de València
  • €2,000 for urban transportation expenses and academic material, through a nominative cheque for pocket money
  • Plane ticket from the country of origin to Valencia


Solidarity funds to finance the grants
The budget for the 9 grants offered by the UV is financed with €50,200 from the 0.7 Fund of the solidarity program of the Universitat de València.

€46,500 from the budgets of the faculties of Mathematical Sciences, Law, Physics, Physiotherapy, Geography and History and Teacher Training.

€64,500 from the agreement between the Universitat de València and the Department of Social Services, Equality and Housing of the Valencian Government.

In total, these grants are financed by a budget of €161,200 from solidarity funds.

The grants are provided through the International Refuge Plan 2024, by resolution of the Vice-Principal for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life of the Universitat de València of 27 May 2024.
