Twenty universities of the Xarxa Vives, including the Universitat de València, are carrying out fieldwork for the fourth edition of the Via Universitaria programme, a study that has become a benchmark in higher education with the involvement of quality agencies and university institutions. Via Universitaria analyses the living conditions of students, the way they study, their bond with the university, their cultural habits and economic conditioning factors, as well as their expectations, values and beliefs in relation to higher education.

The undergraduate and master's degree students of the Universitat de València can participate through the online survey that has been sent to their UV email and can also be found in the Virtual Office of the Universitat. As an incentive to increase participation, 2 iPhone 14s will be raffled among the students who answer the survey.

The study Vía Universitaria: access, learning conditions, expectations and returns of university studies (2023-2025), by the Vives Network, is an instrument for the definition of social and gender equity policies in the university system and is aligned with the results of the EUROSTUDENT report, which collects the same information in 28 European countries. The report will study student trajectories from a triple perspective: equity in access to and life in higher education, the transformation of students' reality as a result of an increasingly diverse social environment, the gender perspective and the quality of teaching and learning methodologies.

The survey: fifty-nine questions divided in five themes

The Vía Universitaria survey includes fifty-nine questions divided in five themes. Firstly, students assess their access to university and their personal academic career. Afterwards, they assess their living, learning and study conditions. Next, they answer questions about the daily life of the student body and the level of participation and involvement in cultural, social and leisure activities that take place at the university. Then, a section is dedicated to their expectations about their professional future at the end of their time at university. Finally, the questionnaire ends with the compilation of socio-demographic data, which will allow a detailed analysis of the key axes of the programme according to the profile of the survey respondents.

The results of the study, which are expected to be published in May 2025, will serve not only as a tool for reflection and debate, but also to inform the decisions and orientations of the university policy that is developed both by the universities themselves and by the public administrations in the field of education, research, employment and youth.

The fourth edition of the programme Vía Universitaria of the Xarxa Vives is promoted by the following 20 universities: Abat Oliba CEU University, University of Alacant, University of Andorra, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Barcelona, University CEU Cardenal Herrera, University of Girona, University of the Balearic Islands, International University of Catalonia, Universitat Jaume I, University of Lleida, University Miguel Hernández of Elche, Open University of Catalonia, Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Universitat Politècnica de València, University Pompeu Fabra, University Ramon Llull, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Universitat de València and Central University of Catalonia.
