UV Principal Mavi Mestre to read the institutional manifest this Friday in honour of 25N

The Universitat de València has commemorated the 25th of November, International Day Against Gender Violence, with different activities throughout the week. The Principal of the Universitat de València, Mavi Mestre, has read the institutional manifest on Friday the 24th at 1pm in the Senate Hall of La Nau Cultural Centre.
At this institutional event, a poetry reading as well as the presentation of the new image for the Espai Violeta took place, a resource created at the Universitat de València to prevent gender-based violence among the university community. The event also included the awarding of the Olga Quiñones Prize.
The activities started this year in the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences last Tuesday the 21st with a panel discussion titled #seacabo. Nuevos tiempos para las mujeres en el deporte (#thisendsnow. New times for women in sports). In the debate, the following individuals discussed the future of women’s sports: Pilar Calvo, professional clay pigeon shooter and current secretary of the Spanish Women’s Association for Women’s Sports; Ana Boluda, journalist and author of ‘The Journalism Style Manual for Women’s Sports; Maite Pellicer, head of the Chair for Women and Sports UV-GVA; and Ana Gómez, head of the UV Sports Service.
On Friday the 24th of November at 1pm in the Senate Hall of the La Nau Cultural Centre, UV Principal Mavi Mestre read the institutional manifest.
The activities honouring International Day Against Gender Violence have filled the campuses with workshops, debates, film forums and conferences. Furthermore, the façades of the Office of the Principal, La Nau and the campus libraries display purple banners to commemorate 25N.
At the Faculty of Social Studies has taken place a workshop on preventing harassment and in the Faculty of Law has taken place a debate on patriarchal justice. A film forum in the Faculty of Geography and History, lectures on the dissonances between the discourse and the empirical reality of prostitution in the Faculty of Psychology and workshops on menstrual violence in the Faculty of Physiotherapy are just some of the activities that have been programmed for the week.
At the Burjassot-Paterna Campus, a breastfeeding room has been inaugurated and at the Gandia International Centre, the lecturer from the University of Barcelona, Lidia Puigvert, has given a talk on the prevention of gender-based violence in childhood and adolescence.
La Nau Cultural Centre has filled all its halls with an exhibition that presents works from different art collections that speak out against gender-based violence and promote the vindication of women's freedom.
Concerts, documentaries and exhibitions round out the programme of activities that have been organised by the Universitat de València in honour of International Day Against Gender Violence.
