The Sports Service of the Universitat de València (UVSports) has launched new sports and competitive activities for the 2026-2027 academic year. The star of this year is the introduction of K-pop classes at the Tarongers Campus, a discipline that combines Korean music, energy and urban dance coordination. Besides this novelty, UVSports responds to the students’ demands by expanding its climbing areas to local climbing walls, doubling the activity in places such as Ontinyent, and decentralising internal tournaments in Burjassot so that no one misses out on training due to a lack of time or the need to travel between campuses.
The Korean pop phenomenon has officially arrived at the aerobics room at the Tarongers campus. Led by trainer Emma Tendero, this new workshop will take place on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The activity will offer 20 places for participants interested in mastering dance covers and synchronised choreographies combining hip-hop, commercial jazz, locking and modern dance. The new proposal complements the Universitat’s offering of urban dance and body expression activities.
For climbing enthusiasts, another novelty of this year is the launch of the new climbing group led by Mónica Sánchez. Sessions will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Natural Climb Espai Verd climbing wall (Benimaclet), a strategic location close to the Blasco Ibáñez and the Tarongers campuses.
The decentralisation and students’ work-life balance leads the way at the other centres, so the Burjassot-Paterna campus is introducing an internal mixed volleyball competition, as well as two new paddle and tennis groups (individual men’s and women’s categories) –to avoid unnecessary travel and facilitate students’ academic life, all official macthes will be held at the Municipal Sports Centre of Burjassot; the Ontinyent campus doubles its sports offering compared with the previous year. Besides the established yoga and pilates classes, the programme will incorporate for the first time functional trainings (on Mondays and Wednesdays) and bachata-salsa lessons (Mondays); and at the Blasco Ibáñez and Tarongers Campus, the internal leagues are being strengthened, with students invited to participate in mixed basketball and volleyball competitions, as well as in indoor soccer, Football 7, and beach volleyball.
Registrations are now open through the UVSports website.
