On Monday, 7 September, the Universitat de València has welcomed international Erasmus students starting their stay this 2026-2027 academic year. Around 2,200 students have participated in the sessions organised by the International Relations and Cooperation Service in the Aula Magna (Assembly Hall) at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, on the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, divided into four turns throughout the morning. 

‘The aim of today’s informative session is for incoming students to have a first contact with the Universitat, and to provide them with practical information in cooperation with other UV services. We want them to feel at home, like local students, and, this way, contribute to creating a more intercultural and international campus. This experience will also be beneficial for the students of the Universitat themselves.’, explains Carlos Pomer, Head of the International Relations and Cooperation Service.

With this purpose, several information points were set up in the hall of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry for the incoming students to learn first-hand about the services and resources offered by the Universitat de València during their stay. The Language Policy Service, the Sports Service, the Language Centre, the Libraries and Documentation Service, UVdisability, Erasmus Student Network, and Escena Erasmus have participated.

Together with Carlos Pomer, Sonsoles Oñate, Management Technician at the International Relations and Cooperation Service, and Esteban Sanchis, Delegate of the Principal for the FORTHEM Alliance, welcomed the students and provided them with useful information for their integration into the Universitat and for their stay in València. 

Over 5,000 students participate in mobility programmes

Mobility remains important at the Universitat de València. During the 2026-2027 academic year, the arrival of 2,569 mobility students is expected, 2.217 of whom participate in the Erasmus Studies Programme, 101 in the International Programme, and 251 in the SICUE programme. 1.636 of them carry out their mobility during the first semester, and another 933 students will stay at the Universitat for the whole academic year. This does not include the mobility students of the second semester.

At the same time, 2,531 students of the Universitat de València will carry out a mobility stay at other universities this year. Among them, 2,224 participate in Erasmus Studies, 104 in the International Programme, and 203 in SICUE.

Numbers show a practically balanced exchange between the students coming to the Universitat de València, and those carrying out part of their studies outside.

Italy and Germany, main countries of origin

Italy is ranked as the main country of origin among the international students arriving at the Universitat de València, with 675 students, followed by Germany and France. Italy is also the most selected destination among the students of the Universitat de València that undertake a stay abroad, with 808 students. Poland, France, and Portugal are the next ones. 

Consequently, València preserves its appeal as a destination for international students thanks to factors such as the academic offer, the quality of teaching, and its nature of Mediterranean city, with an intense cultural life and privileged maritime location.
