Tribute to Joan Fuster and to the ‘Mètode’

The Valencian Language Academy has organised a tribute to Joan Fuster and to the ‘Mètode’ magazine because it is the 25th anniversary of the death of the essayist and of the creation of the publication. During today’s morning, Friday 12 May, there will be conferences and round tables in the Hall Enric Valor of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication of the Universitat de València.

The Valencian Language Academy, after the five previous sessions which were dedicated to Ferran Torrent, Josep Piera, Rodolf Sirera, the Nova Cançó -which paid tribute to Raimon- and the Literary Translation -which paid tribute to Joan Francesc Mirà-, suggests that the 6th Session on Valencian Writers should be focused on one of the essential elements of the contemporary Valencian culture: the essay. The aim is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Joan Fuster and of the creation of the magazine Mètode of the Universitat de València.

The Valencian essay has valued the language in fields such as the experiences and works of people and institutions in periods of social and cultural changes in all the areas: humanistic, scientific, educational, technological and the social values one.

The session, in collaboration with the Universitat de València, has as an objective to encourage a shared opportunity, not only for the recognition of the language and the literature, but also to analyse the importance of the debates and the different current and historic questions about the Valencian and the universal culture.
