The faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciencies is hosting the events of the Global Action Week for education (SAME) on Wednesday 26 April. The presentation will take place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty at 10 a.m. and the main event will take place in the Turia River Garden.
The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) works around the world to raise awareness of the importance of education in countries in both the global North and South. SAME organises each year to hold political representatives accountable to this goal and to actively engage citizens in the process necessary to make the right to inclusive, equitable and quality education a reality for all people around the world (SDG4).
The SAME, the central moment of the Campaign, has as its theme this year 'TransformAction on Equality... Get Mobilised' with the cyber-action 'Give rhythm to equality' with a focus on the fulfilment of SDG 4 and gender equality in education. The focus is on transformative education with a clear gender focus, going beyond improving access to education for girls, young women and women, to an education focused on equipping and empowering the entire education community - students, teachers, families, communities and policy makers - to be able to examine, question and change the social and cultural constructs that maintain male gender privilege over girls, young women, women and other gender identities that have been largely invisible until now.
The events have been organised by the NGOs Action Aid, Across cultures and Mainel Foundation in alliance with the University of Valencia, which has been supporting GCE for more than ten years. This year, it will be carried out through the Teaching Innovation Project (UV-SFPIE_PID-2076760) "Global Action Week for Education (SAME). An experience to develop social and educational co-responsibility". Numerous educational centres of the Valencian Community, the university educational community and the general public are expected to participate in the events.
