Pilar Domingo-Calap, PhD, is a virologist and Professor at the Institute for Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio, UV-CSIC), where she leads the Environmental and Biomedical Virology group. Her research centers on the development of bacteriophage-based therapies to combat multidrug-resistant bacteria, addressing challenges in human, animal, and plant health through a One Health perspective.
As co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Evolving Therapeutics SL, Dr. Domingo-Calap drives innovation in phage therapy, translating laboratory advances into clinical and agricultural applications. Her work has been validated in compassionate-use cases and pioneering projects in precision medicine and sustainable agriculture.
Dr. Domingo-Calap has authored over 80 scientific publications, coordinated more than 20 research projects, and received prestigious honors such as the Women TechEU Award, the International Zendal Award, and the Young Virologist Prize. She is also recognized for her leadership in deep tech entrepreneurship and advocacy for women in science.
