26th Summer Course of Traditional Crafts
recovery in rural areas
The deadline for participating in the 26th editon of Courses of
Traditional Crafts recovery in rural areas The course of 2014
will be taught in Valencia (Cristo Rey Church) between 14 and 19
July
The participation is free, after selecting the applications
submitted, and besides the insurance it includes the
accomodation and maintenance, as well as the work materials.
Application forms are available on this page, they should be
submitted in the e-mail address
patrimoni.cultural@uv.es
and/or in the office of the secretary of the Departmert of
History of Art of the University of Valencia up to 6 June. They
may be submitted by all students from first year and former
students of any faculty of the Valencian and universities
covered by the Erasmus project. Once collected, after the
selection period, the lists of admitted will be published on 10
June.

International Congress: University and
Artistic Legacy. Artistic Techniques and forms of intervention
on cultural heritage: the History of Art as reflection and
commitment
This congress, organised by the Conservation Area for Cultural
Heritage of the University of Valencia, will be held in the
Faculty of Geography and History on 12, 13 and 14 November,
2013.
It is addressed to students, graduates and professionals in the
different disciplines that affect and have responsibilities
about the study, cataloging, conservation, restoration and
dissemination of the artistic cultural heritage: historians,
architects, heritage technicians, artists, artisans, etc. Also
is open for journalists, cultural agents and the general public
interested in these issues.
These conferences and workshops aim to show the forms and
possibilities of intervention on cultural goods and the
necessary relation between the study and contributions of the
History of Art “to know to recognise”, as well as the different
materials, techniques, jobs and works related to its production,
and whose knowledge is essential and necessary for the proper
rehabilitation of works and spaces.
In this sense, this congress wants to divulgate the works done
by professionals of great prestige, presenting some exemplary
interventions on cultural heritage.
In the framework of the congress also is raised a vital
reflection about the studies of History of Art and its renewal.
We want to emphasize the fundamental role that they develop, and
must develop for the enhancement of cultural assets, and in the
transfer of knowledge that must be converted into social
benefit.
The course registration should be done before 11 November 2013

Web Consultation of the photographic portraits by A. García
It has been incorporated in Web (Artistic collections) the
series of nine portraits made by the famous Valencian
photographer Antonio García Peris in the 19th Century
about illustrious characters of the university institution.

Department for Cultural Heritage Conservation of Universitat
de València puts in net the English version of the Artistic
Collections. This way, a bigger number of users will be able to
approach to the different artistic goods that conform the
university heritage collection.

photographies for the iconic series of the university Main Hall
After the end of a long one and complex process of restoration
of the canvases which belong to the university Main Hall, in the
historical building of Universitat of València, new
photographies have been made (in analogical and digital support)
which allow to contemplate under good conditions the series of
illustrious characters linked to the university institution.

Consultation in Web of Civil War posters
It has been incorporated in Web (Artistic collections)
the complete collection of Civil War posters that supposes 211
new entries. This way, Universitat de València offers to
its users an important and extensive collection of posters of
republican ideology. The intense work of digital restoration
also allows, by means of view in zoom, to observe these posters
in an unpublished way until now.

Presentation of restored canvases of the Heritage Collections
The 10th of October 2006 will be entered, after their
restoration, the canvases that are part of the Heritage
Collections of the university, of the kings Carlos V (UV000116),
Felipe II (UV000117), Felipe III (UV000118) and the
queen Isabel II (UV000126). The intervention has been
carried out thanks to the agreement signed in January of 2006
between Universitat de València and Generalitat
Valenciana through the Institute of Conservation and
Restoration of Cultural Goods of the Valencian Community.

Nowadays, the
Department for Cultural Heritage Conservation
of Universitat de València is working in the translation
in English of the Heritage Collections, expanding, this way, the
possible number of users of other languages.

It is also elaborated the edition from the relative book to the
Wisdom Chapel, located in the historical building of
Universitat de València: their history, construction and
artistic objects, in one of the most representative spaces
throughout the five centuries of existence of the university
institution.
