In 2014, with the slogan ‘AVARITIA omnium malorum radix’ (‘Root of all evil is Greed’), the Martínez Guerricabeitia Trust of the General Foundation of Universitat de València will hold the 12th edition of its Biennial, conceived as a kaleidoscope for viewers to see the latest creative trends and the state of the art, and as an invitation for reflection.

The Martínez Guerricabeitia Biennial, which this year coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Trust (1989-2014), is intended to encourage creativity in young Spanish artists and to increase the university's art heritage through the selection of 29 contemporary artworks by an expert committee.

The section committee includes art critics Sema D’Acosta, Johanna Caplliure, Oriol Fontdevila, Alfonso de la Torre and Lorena Martínez de Corral; and art galleries ADN (Barcelona), Paula Alonso (Madrid), Nuble (Santander), La Real (Palma de Mallorca) and Aural (Alicante).

Organised by Universitat de València, the contemporary art biennial is already a classic in the city, given the foundation’s 24-year existence.
