The panoramas were a spectacle and fun shared in the nineteenth century that, midway between landscape painting, theatrical scenery or the mechanized model with lighting and sound effects, attracted the attention of the public because it allowed them to look (from modern cities) at the grandeur of the landscape, the understanding of natural phenomena, the staging of mythical events in history or exotic and hidden places anywhere on the map. The panoramas and dioramas, the views along the length and breadth of a place or event, were the best modern viewpoints to understand the world, from the sublime romantic to the scientific positivism. Also in 19th century France, the artistic halls were an attraction and an exhibition show where the economic aristocracy, the intellectual bourgeoisie and the popular proletariat met without distinction to see, be seen and comment without reservation on the works their artists had been working on.

The idea that gives meaning to this new edition of the renewed Cañada Blanch Foundation Acquisition Prize, which, among other novelties, will invite a different professional to curate the exhibition every year, comes from both sides. With PANORAMA we propose a journey through the last exhibition season in the galleries that make up LaVAC, selecting exhibitions and artists that have somehow marked milestones in the programming and works that have a special significance in the career of the selected ones. These works will be submitted to the criteria of a professional jury that will determine the acquisition of the work(s) that will become part of the Fundación Cañada Blanch Collection. Both this exhibition and the annual acquisition prize and its dissemination show the support for artistic production and the Valencian cultural fabric by the Cañada Blanch Foundation since its creation in 1970.

Continuing with the aim of promoting the dissemination of culture and art, as well as the indispensable work of Valencian galleries, we present once again the Cañada Blanch Foundation Acquisition Prize at the La Nau Cultural Centre, a reference point for the cultural activity of the Universitat de València in the city. Furthermore, in this new edition we have the collaboration of the Universitat Politècnica de València. To select this award, a commission has been formed by the following experts: Elena Vozmediano, Carlos Delgado Mayordomo, Juan Viña, Manel Costa, Vicente Rodríguez Esparza, Norberto Piqueras and Paula Sánchez.
