The Chair for a New Green Transition and the DEM+ Research Group of the Universitat de València are organising the 3rd International Congress on the Rights of Mediterranean Nature: South-South Dialogue. This congress will bring together climate change experts to discuss the measures to be taken by public institutions, drawing on comparative South-South experiences. It will focus on identifying problems and solutions from the perspectives of law, economics and social sciences.

At a time when climate change is a global issue, it is important to find new legal avenues to strengthen the quest for land sustainability, especially in the Mediterranean. One potential avenue is the recognition of the rights of nature by various legal systems. This recognition, along with the implementation of the UN Harmony with Nature programme, make “Earth jurisprudence” a powerful tool in the quest for a greener world.

The Congress will take place on 27 and 28 June 2024 at the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València, with both in person and streaming options available. The papers and communications will be published in a collective volume by the organisers.
