Online Conference “2030 Agenda, Social Work and cooperation: challenges for a transformative education”

On 26 October the Chair for Cooperation and Sustainable Development and the Department of Social Work and Social Services are organising an event in which we will discuss educational and social challenges.

Next Monday 26th October at 9:30 a.m. will take place the online conference “2030 Agenda, Social Work and Cooperation: challenges for a transformative education” organised by the Chair for Cooperation and Sustainable Development and the Department of Social Work and Social Services of Universitat de València.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 9:30 a.m. Inauguration of the Conference and presentation of the Chair for Cooperation and Sustainable Development.
    • Xelo Angulo Luna, General Director for International Development Cooperation of the GVA
    • Dr Carles Padilla Carmona, Vice-Principal for Internationalization and Cooperation of Universitat de València.
    • Dr Carmen Lloret-Catalá, Delegate of the Vice-Chancellor for Cooperation of Universitat de València.
    • Dr María Alcantud Díaz, Director of the Chair for Cooperation and Sustainable Development of Universitat de Valencia.
  • 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Presentation by Professor Elena Mut Montalvá (Department of Social Work and Social Services) of the speaker: Professor Gema Celorio Díaz with the paper: “Education for social transformation. Rethinking the world in times of crisis”.
    • Graduate in Geography and History from the University of Cantabria and completed the doctorate programme in psychodidactics. She is a member of the Education team at Hegoa - Institute of Studies on Development and International Cooperation (UPV/EHU) and has carried out research on educational issues, drafted opinions and conducted studies on the cooperation and educational sector for social transformation. She participates as a lecturer in several master’s degrees: Master’s Degree in Development and International Cooperation (UPV/EHU). Author and co-author of various articles and publications on education.
  • 11:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Discussion moderated by Professor Elena Mut Montalvá
  • 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Presentation by Professor Ana Vázquez Cañete (Department of Social Work and Social Services) of the speaker: Professor Begoña Leyra Fatou with the paper: “Gender and social work: advances and challenges of the 2030 Agenda”.
    • She holds a diploma in Social Work, a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, a Master’s degree in Gender and Development, a DEA in Social Anthropology and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Services, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Social Work of the Complutense University of Madrid, Director of the Gender Unit and of the School of Governance (UG-UCM). She has participated in research and development cooperation projects in different Latin American countries, where she has lived for more than 5 years, and teaches postgraduate courses in different academic and professional institutions, such as the Diplomatic School or AECID. She is a co-founding member of GENRA (Network of Feminist Women for Gender Equity in Development). She has published numerous articles on the anthropology of gender and childhood, gender and development, as well as the management and planning of social services.
