UV Advice

We have just returned to the classroom, to our offices, but virtually, in a special and complicated situation, but one from which we are also convinced that we are going to get positive things out. We are going to come out stronger, knowing more, more resilient...

From the Chair for Cooperation and Sustainable Development of Universitat de València, we want to contribute to reveal the opportunities that this confinement could offer us. For this reason, we will send you ideas, links and advice daily that can help us to manage the situation of teaching/learning/management/research in confinement in a usefully and sustainable way.

We would like all the professionals of the Universitat de València who wish to do so, each one from their own filed, as well as from the Institutes, collaborating entities, etc. to send us resources, advice, information, etc. that will allow us, from our homes to collaborate against poverty, the fight against hunger, to improve our health and well-being, to provide quality education and to work for equality.

Erasmus+ Virtual Exchanges

Erasmus+ Exchanges are a recent initiative of the European Commission. These activities are completely free and open to the participation of all young people between 18 and 30 years living in Europe and the Southern Mediterranean.
Virtual Exchanges are digital meetings where young people from different countries meet to talk about different topics. Some current proposals are youth, peace and security, sustainable food, combating hate speech, climate change, globalisation and local culture, among others.  Each exchange has a fixed duration, which can include from one to ten sessions.
Each week, young people meet in small groups using a virtual platform and participate in a live discussion led by facilitators. In these sessions, they share their opinion with other young people and learn to think critically, with curiosity and empathy. The dialogues can be complemented by conferences or readings. The language can be English, French or Arabic.
Through these activities, young people develop key competencies such as intercultural communication, critical thinking, curiosity and self-esteem, because more aware of current stereotypes and can build friendships with other young people from different cultures.
There are also training opportunities for youth workers and educators who want to develop new teaching methods:  Direct access to European Youth Portal

Barceló Hoteles in their Pin and Travel magazine offers us: 5 films to emulate when we travel again. As they say on their website: All the arts can make us travel through their words, sounds or images, but if there is one of them that gets us into the story and makes us feel connected to a story to a point of feeling that we are in that precise moment or place, that is cinema. In times of confinement, when the crisis unleashed by COVID-19 forces us to stay at home to protect and shield ourselves, the seventh art is the magic key we wired to fly away from our homes, even if it is only for a little while, and start to start to project ourselves into places and situations that make us smile. Professor Elena Mut Montalvá from the Department of Social Work and Social Services (Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitat de València) sends us another initiative to continue working on equality from our homes: “Ecofeminist views on the model of care”, with Yayo Herrera and Lina Gálvez in the cycle “Dialogues with Equality” of the UGR.

“The ecofeminist perspective and the words of Lina González and Yayo Herrera will give us keys and references to a new model of care. Nobody doubts the need for care, not even the androcentric system with all its economic, political and social power does, otherwise, it would not have “put” half of the world’s population, women, to develop care”, as stated in the presentation of the new sessions of the Cycle.
