Crecycsem focuses its activity in the growth of different materials by different methods depending of the aims, goals and challenges in the field, as well as in their characterisation.

Bulk, thin layers and nanostructures have been the object of study; more in detail, the group has been mainly involved in the growth and characterisation of III-VI materials (InSe, GaS, GaSe, GaTe, Ga₂O₃ and In₂O₃), II-VI materials (HgTe, CdTe, ZnSe, ZnTe and alloys), ZnO, CdO, MgO and their alloys and lately in the BiSeTe family as a potential topological insulator.
