University Microcredential with an open enrolment. It will take place online from 1 to 10 July
The General Foundation of the Universitat de València organises the University microcredential ‘Introducción al Mercado de Arte Contemporáneo’ (1ECST) inside the programme of Continuous Training.
The enrolment is now open and the course will take place online from 1 to 10 July, 2025 through the Virtual Classroom of the UV, lead by the professors Amparela Benlliure and Jorge Sebastián.
The course offers an integral approximation of the contemporary art market, a complex ecosystem conformed by many agents that has place in an ever-changing environment and, for this reason, requires a dynamic and updated training, taking into account the mobility of the professionals of the sector between the most traditional channels -galleries, art auctions..._ and other not so known, such as assessment for collectors or digital platforms.
At the same time, artists, increasingly adopt hybrid roles, combining artistic production with the cultural agent role, adapting to teams and variable environments. The search for sponsors, funding and subventions, the management of cultural events, art as an investment, the commission of projects... are some of the many other fields in which professionalism makes the difference.
All of this marks the aim of the course: offering an initial formation oriented towards innovation and professionalism, inside the contemporary art market sector.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired an specific knowledge of who and in which manner are connected the different actors that interact in the art market: through the assimilation of theory and practical contents, it will count with a basis to analyse the contemporary artistic production, in a national and international context, as well as recognising the channels and tools that it must use to be informed of the current artistic mainstream, as well as differentiating between primary and secondary market.
The course has a duration of 10 teaching hours and, as we talk about a microcredential, the methodology is fundamentally practical through the extracted cases of real experiences of the teaching team that are complemented with a meticulous bibliographic selection.
