Overall objective:
- Study the relationship between environmental factors and human health.
Specific objectives:
- Assess the impact of environmental pollutants on the health of the population, paying special attention to vulnerable populations, such as children, pregnant persons, the elderly, migrants, people with fewer economic/social/educational resources, by carrying out observational studies using the techniques and methods of environmental epidemiology.
- Estimate the degree of exposure of the population to environmental risks, particularly those residing in the region of Valencia, through the development of biomarkers, environmental measures, questionnaires and information systems.
- Analyse the relationship between exposure to air pollution and the health of the population.
- Examine the effects associated with extreme temperatures (heat waves and cold spells), as well as the possible consequences of climate change on overall health.
