The research group develops its investigative activity along the following lines of work:
- Infancy and the environment
- Air pollution and health
- Meteorology and climate
- Health impact assessment for different environmental risks
- Environment and health in population-based surveys
Infancy and the environment
Cohort study in collaboration with other research centres (INMA project) for sharing methodologies and knowledge about the environmental impacts on child health, discovering the level of exposure and contamination during pregnancy and early childhood, assess the roll of common environmental pollutants and dietary protective factors on foetal growth and the neuroendocrine-immune development in order to specify an environmental health indicator.
Air pollution and health
Multi-centre study of the relationship between air pollution and health. Studies are carried out to assess the impact of pollution on the health of the population.
Meteorology and climate
Assessment of the relationship between climate factors and meteorological variables, especially ambient temperature and health, as well as public health measures that can minimise the impact of foreseeable climate change in the future.
Health impact assessment for different environmental risks
Through the measurement of the degree of exposure to risks, the development of biomarkers and the relationship between these factors and the incidence of various pathologies, this impact is assessed from different perspectives, from environmental pollution (through biomarkers of exposure) to climate change (heat waves and cold spells), including the impact of certain technologies that affect the environment (mobile phones, power lines, etc.).
