Exhibition 'Invisible Seams: Impact of Fast Trends'
Face-to-face

An exhibition aiming to raise awareness of the environmental al social implications of fast trend consumption among the university community.

The exhibition 'Costuras Invisibles: el Impacto de la Moda Rápida' ('Invisible Seams: Impact of Fast Fashion') will take place from Monday 10 to Friday 21 November at the entrance hall of the Universitat de València Faculty of Pharmacy, aiming to raise awareness about the environmental and social implications of fast fashion consumption.

The consumist society we live in invites us to constantly replace our clothes, even if they are in good state. In most cases, citizens are not aware of the environmental impact produced by this consumption known as fast fashion. This concept refers to massive production and consumption that keeps the same pace as trends. In this model, trending clothes are bought at low prices. Brands that rely on this system often produce their productos in undeveloped countries with low salaries and neglecting safety conditions to their workers in order to save money.

This exhibition consists in thirteen posters made by the students of the Degree in Environmental Science subject of Environmental Education and Interpretation. The activity lies within the frame of the educative innovation project 'Aprendizaje-Servicio para la concienciación y la acción frente a la moda rápida' ('Learning-Service for awareness and action against fast fashion') (PIEE - 3901555), participationg Department of Experimental and social Science Didactics professors María Calero, Olga Mayoral, Raquel Rivas and Ignacio García. Students elaborated the posters and organised a guided visit for students of the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching. This way, future teachers will have collaborated in the evaluation and proposals of initiative improvement with great relevance in their centres.
