Throughout decades, the Research Group on Human Rights and Globalization (DERGLO) has developed various prolonged, up-to-date lines of research on different aspects of human rights. These derive from the pioneering studies and research carried out by professor Jesús Ballesteros. Over the past few years, said lines have specifically focused on matters related to International Law, with special attention to the challenges in peace, sustainable development and intergenerational justice. The most recent results include the following funded research projects, as well as a number of important publications and monographies in publishing companies and prestigious science magazines:

  • Project CIAICO/2024/227: subsidies from the Programme for Scientific Research Promotion, the technological development and innovation in the Valencian Community for consolidated research groups (from 01/09/2025 to 31/08/2025). Project title: “A Right to a Future: intergenerational justice in the era of the Anthropocene and digitalism.” Main researchers: Vicent Bellver Capella and Ana-Paz Garibo Peyró.
  • Cooperation for the Development of the University of Valencia Project: funded by the Vice-Principal of Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life: “Reinforcing the technical capabilities of the statuses of Cauca, Meta, Guajira, Putumayo, Norte de Santander, Bocacá, Huila, Córdoba, Valle del Cauca, Cundinamarca, San Andrés and Providence in Human Rights, Gender, Peace and International Cooperation (21,550€). Main researcher: Ana-Paz Garibo Peyró. Concession resolution: Resolution from the Vice-Principal of Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life on 27 March 2024.
  • Project by the UNESCO Chair in Development Studies of the University of Valencia: “Training officials in Human Rights through cooperation to in development to reinforce their technical skills and their abilities to raise awareness among the Valencian society of the key role played by Human Rights” (2,000€). IP: Ana-Paz Garibo Peyró. Concession resolution: 12 September 2024.
  • Project PROMETEO phase II. Reference: PROMETEO II/2014/080 (from 01-01-2014 to 31-12-2017). Title: “The role played by Law in the fight against poverty and social exclusion”. Main researcher: Jesús Ballesteros Llompart.
  • Grants to outstanding research groups – Global Justice Programme (Diké): grants to groups for the formation and accreditation of outstanding ISIC networks (Cooperative Biotechnology Research Higher Institutes). Reference: ISIC/2012/017 (from 01/01/2012 to 31/12/2015).
  • Programme PROMETEO for outstanding research groups. Valencian Government. From 01/01/2010 to 31/12/2013. Project title: “Human Rights, sustainability and peace.” Main researcher: Jesús Ballesteros Llompart.

This group also constitutes the core of professors responsible for the Master’s Degree in Human Rights, Peace and Sustainable Development, as well as the Doctoral Programme in Sustainability and Peace in the Post-Globalisation Era. The latter’s academics contents are organised from the interrelationships and the indivisibility between Human Rights and the social and political response to global issues such as wars, underdevelopment, indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources, among others. This programme allows students to acquire a scientific research methodology and advanced knowledge to cover these matters with rigour, constituting an innovative and interdisciplinary field of study in constant growth.
