The geopolitics of critical resources and minerals in the face of the energy transition challenge: the role of transnational corporations
On 5 and 6 November 2026, the 1st International Congress on International Relations and Geopolitics will be held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia, focusing on the geopolitics of critical resources and minerals in the face of the energy transition challenge and the role of transnational corporations.
The Congress will provide an interdisciplinary forum for debate on the transformation of global power relations associated with the energy transition and the growing demand for critical resources and minerals, with particular attention to the role of transnational corporations.
The Congress is launching a Call for Papers aimed at researchers interested in the various geopolitical, legal, economic, social and cultural dimensions related to critical resources and minerals and the energy transition.
Proposals may address one of the following thematic areas:
Geopolitics, security and the reconfiguration of global hegemony.
Transnational corporations as geopolitical actors.
Global governance, regulatory frameworks and alternatives.
Artivism, the aesthetics of extractivism and cultural resistance.
Paper proposals may be submitted in Spanish or Valencian and must be sent by 15 October 2026 to congreso.cirig@gmail.com.
Applicants will be notified of the acceptance of their proposals on 19 October 2026.
The highest-quality proposals may be selected for publication in a collective volume to be published by a prestigious Spanish academic publisher.
