The Faculty of Law and the Institute of Human Rights of the Universitat de València have organised an open day with the title ‘Iran, women, life, freedom’. The sessions will be held at the faculty lobby on Thursday, 10 November 2022, starting at 5:30pm, with a traditional Iranian dance, until 7:30pm, when the event will be closed with traditional music from the country.

The writer and political scientist Nazanin Armanian will give a conference about the current situation in Iran. It will be presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Javier Palao. Next, a panel discussion moderated by the Dean will be held, with the participation of Armanian, the translator and interpreter Ryma Sheermohammadi and María Chaqués, responsible for the legal area of the Amnesty International-Valencia.

Javier Palao explains with regard to these conferences: “we want to make the current Iranian situation known, starting from their millenary history and the contributions that their culture has made to the Western culture. We want to provide data and testimonies to better judge what is going on in the country, beyond what we see daily on television”. Simultaneously, professor Palao adds: “we want to put special emphasis on the segregation of women in Iran by the Iranian regime”.
