Dr. Juan Francisco Barroso Márquez from our PhD Programme in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice, has received the XXII ‘Manuel Giménez Abad’ Prize for research work on democracy and political and territorial decentralisation, awarded by the Manuel Giménez Abad Foundation.
The work entitled ‘El iliberalismo después de la máscara. The perversion of constitutional democracy’.
The jury unanimously agreed to award ex aequo the 22nd ‘Manuel Giménez Abad’ Prize for research work on democracy and political and territorial decentralisation to Mr. Juan Francisco Barroso Márquez, Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Extremadura, as author of the work entitled ‘El iliberalismo después de la máscara. The perversion of constitutional democracy’.
Juan Francisco Barroso Márquez, holds a PhD from the University of Valencia in the Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice Programme. His thesis was entitled ‘Transformación del principio de confianza mutua y afecciones al constitucionalismo europeo ante el surgimiento de regímenes iliberales’ (Transformation of the principle of mutual trust and effects on European constitutionalism in the face of the emergence of illiberal regimes) and was supervised by Professors Roberto Viciano Pastor and Gabriel Moreno González.
