The awards ceremony for the 2nd Financial Culture Contest will be held on 27 October

The Faculty of Economics is once again hosting this competition, whose aim is to promote financial culture among secondary school students. The prizes will be awarded at the gala and the videos of the winning teams will be projected.

On 27 October, at 12 p.m., the prizes will be awarded to the authors of the winning videos of the second edition of the Financial Culture contest, organised by the Universitat de València, through the Banco Santander-UV Chair for International Finance, and the Committee for Cooperation with Secondary Schools of the Faculty of Economics.

This competition has been promoted once again this year with the intention of promoting and stimulating financial culture among young people, as well as teamwork, rewarding initiative and creativity. The contest is open to all 3rd and 4th year students of Compulsory Spanish Secondary Education (ESO) or Spanish Upper Secondary School Education (Bachillerato) in the Valencian Community. 

The videos submitted by the teams have a maximum duration of 4 minutes and deal with aspects related to the contents of economics subjects, such as sources of business financing, personal finance, the importance of taxation in contributing to the economy for the common good, money and means of payment, the financial system, the international context of the economy or current economic imbalances.

The contest has two categories (ESO and Bachillerato) and two awards for each category, with €150 per student for the first prizes and €100 per student for the second prizes.

The winning videos

The Jury, which assessed the 24 proposals submitted, decided to award prizes to the following videos:

In the Bachillerato category:

  • 1st Prize: “Is the war in Ukraine the end of Economics as we know it?” by Colegio Jesús-María. Made by Zoe Far Laborda, Beatriz Sanmartín Lacalle, Miguel Ángel Ruiz Navarro and Sonia Román Sancho, and directed by Teresa Estruch Camarena.
  • 2nd Prize: Video: “Cryptocurrencies” by IES Biar. Made by Ana Pérez Francés, Elena Pérez Valdés, Zaira Francés Llorens, and Sandra Quiles Hernández, and directed by Lorena Sedano Calderón.

In the ESO category:

  • 1st Prize: “Forewarned: Action!” by IES Las Espeñetas. Made by María Cayuelas Sabater, David Salinas Soto, Alejandro Fenoll Cascales and Brandon Albarado Mamani, and directed by Cristina Javaloyes Victoria.
  • 2nd Prize: “Cards and how they work” by IES Clara Campoamor. Made by Lidia Peris Castillo and Lucía Ballester Fernández, and directed by David Fabuel Guareño.
