The Director of Territorial Institutions of Banco Santander, José Miguel Lorente Ayala, will give a conference entitled "Impacto de las nuevas tecnologías en el sector financiero” [Impact of new technologies in the financial sector] on Wednesday May 11th at 18 h. The talk will take place in the classroom 205 of the South Classrooms of the Universitat de València's Faculty of Economics.

The purpose of the talk is to address the ongoing transformation of banking services, as digitalisation in the financial sector is changing the face-to-face relationship with customers.

The advantages of the digitalisation of financial products and services are obvious: shorter times, being able to carry out operations at any time and in any place, better use of human resources, cost reduction that translates into lower commissions, greater flexibility, improved communications and personal finance management...

This change is having consequences for most of the population and, in some sectors, especially among older people, there may be a "feeling of insecurity because they feel unable to use the digital media on offer or because they feel neglected when they have doubts, which can lead to pockets of digital financial exclusion", says José Miguel Lorente Ayala, Banco Santander's Director of Institutions in the Valencian Community and Murcia.

To combat this insecurity and maximise the benefits, Lorente explains that the only solution is education and digital financial literacy. This conference, organised by the Universitat de València - Banco Santander Chair for International Finance, aims to introduce attendees to the digital world that is leading the evolution of the financial sector. The talk will take place in the classroom 205 of the South Classrooms of the Universitat de València's Faculty of Economics, on Wednesday May 11th at 18 h.
