On 22 February, those interested will be able to attend a conference on Services of General Interest and the rights of consumers and users, in the framework of the UniSocietat programme of the Universitat de València.
María Jesús García García, Tenured University Professor of Administrative Law at the Universitat de València, and director of the ‘Jean Monnet Chair. Services of General Economic Interest in the framework of social and territorial cohesion (SIEGE)', will give this conference, which will take place in the Castle of Bétera at 7:00 p.m.
This lecture aims to explain the concept of services of general interest and their role in the social and economic integration of citizens. The services of general interest are those that are considered as such by the public administrations of EU Member States and are therefore subject to specific public service obligations. They include public transport, energy, communication, postal services and health care networks.
The conference is aimed at the general public, both consumers and users, as the European legislation related to services of economic interest applies to many areas of activity (electricity, water supply, health, social services, etc.), which are aimed at consumers.
This lecture has the participation of the ‘Jean Monnet Chair. Services of General Economic Interest in the framework of social and territorial cohesion (SIEGE)', and has been organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society, the Bétera City Council, the Valencian Provincial Council and Caixa Popular, within the framework of the UniSocietat programme.
