The project ‘Participation, neighbourhood relations and coexistence in multicultural neighbourhoods in pandemic. A comparative analysis (ParticipaBarrio, PID2021-124346OB-I00), integrated among others by members of the MIDICO group, is organising the International Conference ‘Participation, neighbourhood relations and coexistence in multicultural neighbourhoods’. It will be held on 19 and 20 June at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Valencia. Its aim is to grasp the situation of coexistence in the new context, focusing on the analysis of neighbourhood relations and participation in neighbourhood life, with a comparative dimension, at the level of neighbourhoods and countries, particularly between Spain and France.
The Faculty of Social Sciences of the Universitat de València will host on 19 and 20 June 2025 an International Conference focused on the analysis of coexistence in multicultural neighbourhoods in contexts of urban transformation. The meeting, framed within the ParticipaBarrio research project (PID2021-124346OB-100), will bring together specialists to reflect on neighbourhood dynamics, citizen participation and the effects of processes such as gentrification or residential segregation, precariousness or cultural diversification. The conference will adopt a comparative perspective, with special attention to the realities of Spain and France, and will place in dialogue works that analyse both conflicts and practices of sociability and participation, in a context marked by urban inequalities and social changes of the last decades in neighbourhoods of both countries. Proposals for papers can be #submitted between 1 April and 15 May 2025. More information here.
