On Friday 24 January, at 12 noon, in room 3A3, Dr. Dubravka Mindek will give a seminar on ‘Love in a suitcase. "The displacements and (re)encounters of affective couples at a distance’.

Dubravka Mindek is research professor at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (Mexico) in the group ‘Social and cultural studies: (in)equity and diversity’. Dr. Midek focuses on gender, family, marriage and migration studies in rural and post-indigenous contexts in Mexico. The seminar she is giving is part of her stay as a visitor to the MIDICO (Migrations, Diversity and Social Cohesion) group at the Universitat de València.

The seminar will deal with international, cyclical and temporary migrations of affective partners and will combine a bibliographical foundation with an empirical basis based on interviews with Mexican dox meixicanes who have maintained long-distance relationships with European men.

This activity is part of the annual cycle of seminars organised by the MIDICO group.
