The event will gather journalists, researchers and experts in communication to analyse the journalism challenges in front of misinformation related to great social impact crisis, such as climate emergency.

The congress aims to promote a critical reflection space on the role of local media in information management for emergencies and promotion of strategies that support verification and public trust.

It is part of the yearly gathering of the journalism area to promote and reflect on digital communication. It is organised by professors Dafne Calvo and Guillermo López García with the support of the Universitat de València Chair of Audiovisual Prospects and Analysis.

The first session will open with the round table 'El periodismo local ante el caos informativo' ('Local journalism against informative chaos') participating journalists from elDiario.es, El Español, El Confidencial and Valencia Plaza. Then, researcher Laura Alonso Muñoz (Jaume I University) will address the social problems induced by misinformation, and journalist Ruth Pérez Castro (Verificat) willhold the practical workshop of verification applied to the DANA.

On the se second day, the main focus will be academic analysis and the role of public media. The round table 'DANA: de la crisis al desorden informativo' ('DANA: from crisis to informative disorder') with the intervention of Lorena Cano (Universitat de València) and Germán Llorca Abad (Polytechnical University of València). The congress will end with the session of Iván Esteve (À Punt), named 'Medios público y servicio social' ('Public media and social service').

With this initiative, Universitat de València reaffirms its commitment with research, information transparency and comunication public service in a critical moment for local journalism promotion and its bond with citizens.
