The programme will begin in the 2026-2027 academic year, with funding from PowerCo, and training provided by the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València.

The Universitat de València (UV), the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), and PowerCo, a company affiliated with the Volkswagen Group, have agreed to create the first interuniversity master’s degree in Spain focused on battery cell manufacturing. The programme, called Master in Battery Cell Production & Technology, will begin in the 2026-2027 academic year, with the aim of training specialised professionals to develop the battery industry in the Valencian Community and the European electric mobility sector.

The master’s programme will consist of 60 ECTS credits and will be taught in a blended format. It will include theoretical and practical training, with face-to-face sessions, workshops, and paid internships at the company. The programme is designed to admit 10-15 students per cohort, who may later have the opportunity to join PowerCo after completing the training.

The teaching programme will be distributed among the three institutions: the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València will be responsible for university teaching –focused on chemistry, engineering, and industrial processes– while PowerCo will provide specific content related to cell manufacturing and production technologies.  The company will fully finance the master’s programme and will also participate in the design of the curriculum.

The new academic programme will be structured into modules and micro-credentials, allowing for progressive training adapted to different expert profiles. Its creation responds to the growing demand for qualified professionals in the energy and sustainable mobility sectors, driven by the development of the PowerCo gigafactory at Parc Sagunt, and by European energy transition policies.

The collaboration between the two public universities of Valencia and the technology company strengthens the connection between academia, applied research, and industrial fabric, with the aim of consolidating Valencian Community as a leading hub for training and production in the battery sector.
