This book analyses the spaces of death in ancient Rome, the myths, rites and forms of remembrance through which Roman citizens articulated their relationship with death. Based on literary, philosophical, legal and epitaphic texts, a journey is made through mythical stories, funerary rites and spaces of remembrance, without forgetting the places of death, the domestic space and the public space.

The aim of the work is to give a voice to the protagonists, those individuals who sometimes indirectly, but in many cases directly, tell us about their perceptions, fears, precautions and hopes about death and the afterlife. The aim is to offer an insight into the feelings that death generated for centuries among thousands of inhabitants on both sides of the Mediterranean and, in doing so, to give the reader a better understanding of their relationship with death.
