The call for contributions for the special volume "Neanderthal landscapes in southern Europe" of the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports is now open.
The volume is coordinated by Mónica Fernández-García (University of Valencia, IPHES), Cristina Val-Peón (RWTH Aachen University) and Juan Ochando (Sapienza Università di Roma, University of Murcia); experts in bioarchaeological and palaeoenvironmental studies in Palaeolithic contexts. The initiative for this volume stems from the session "Neanderthals in Mediterranean landscapes" at the last congress of the European Association of Archaeologists held in Belfast. The aim of the volume is to analyse the most recent research on the environments inhabited by Neanderthals in southern Europe, with special emphasis on the Iberian and Italic peninsula. It is scheduled to open in March 2024.
