"Last Saturday Prof. Aubet, Emeritus Professor of Prehistory at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, passed away. With her goes with her one of the best representatives of a great generation, without whom the development of archaeology in our country would not have reached the current level.

From her initial excavations in Las Chorreras (Vélez-Málaga) in the early 1970s to her most recent work in Tiro (Lebanon), including the settlement of Setefilla and its tumuli and the comprehensive project to study the Phoenician factory at Cerro del Villar (Málaga), her fieldwork has always been exemplary, and her publications are a must for all those interested in Tartessos and Phoenician colonisation. His extensive bibliography is a faithful reflection of his tireless activity. And, of course, his book "Tiro y las colonias fenicias de Occidente", published in 1987 and with several updated editions since then, including the English version "Phoenicians in the West" published by Cambridge University Press.

All of us who had the good fortune to know and deal with her feel a sad emptiness, fortunately we are left with the memory of her vitality and above all her example as a person and researcher. May she rest in peace.
