The lecture is part of the 1st International Conference on Historiography and the Reception of Antiquity in Spain, Portugal and Ibero-America.

Pedro Laín Entralgo (Urrea de Gaén, Teruel 1908 - Madrid 2001) has been an intellectual of great relevance in Spain, known for the variety of his literary production. Professor Laín Entralgo graduated in Chemistry and Medicine from the University of Valencia and is known for his career as a historian of medicine, introducing the discipline in our country from the perspective of medical anthropology. On a political level, he was a member of Falange Española Tradicionalista from the beginning of the civil war, becoming close to the figure of Dioniso Ridruejo and participating in Falangist intellectual projects such as the magazine Escorial (1940-1950) or the direction of Editora Nacional. From here, the paper will deal with the vision of Greek Hippocratic medicine in the work of Pedro Laín Entralgo, from the beginning of his career until his departure from the Falange around 1960.
