Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call for action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

These 17 Goals are based on the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals, but include new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption and peace and justice, among other priorities. The Goals are interrelated, often the key to the success of one will involve the issues most often linked to another.

The SDGs embody a spirit of collaboration and pragmatism in choosing the best options for improving life, in a sustainable way, for future generations. They provide clear guidelines and goals for adoption by all countries in accordance with their own priorities and the world's environmental challenges in general.

The SDGs are an inclusive agenda. They address the root causes of poverty and unite us to achieve positive change for the benefit of people and the planet.
