During Les Falles en Gandia, a field team will be conducting street surveys to gather firsthand information.
Gandía, March 14, 2025- The Federació de Fallas en Gandia and the Joan Noguera Chair of the Universitat de València, has launched an innovative study to analyze the economic, social and environmental impact of the Fallas on the city. With this research, the aim is to gain an in-depth understanding of how this iconic festival influences the local economy, the social lives of residents, and the urban environment.
This project seeks the collaboration of falleros, residents, and visitors and will allow to collect key data on aspects such as the expenses incurred during the celebrations, public perception of the festival, and the environmental challenges associated with its organization.
An opportunity for everyone: Participate in research:
- Residents, not falleros: People that live in Gandia but are not members of any Fallas committee, whose opinion is essential to understanding the impact of the holiday on daily life.
- Visitors: Those who come to the city during the week of Fallas, national or international tourists, to analyze their profile and spending habits.
- Falleros and falleras: Members of the Fallas committees, whose commitment and participation are essential to the celebration´s growth and success.
- Fallas commitees: Organizers of the Fallas festivities.
The survey´s questions include:
- How do you perceive the impact of the Fallas on urban mobility and traffic??
- How much do you approximately spent on housing, food and leisure?
- Do you think the Fallas have a significant environmental impact? What measures would you propose to reduce it?
- How would you rate the relationship between falleros and non-falleros during the festival?
The participation in the surveys is anonymous and the data will be treated confidentially and used exclusively for statistical purposes. The surveys are now available, quick and easy to fill out via a link, so they can even be done also on a mobile phones. During the Fallas days, a field team will be conducting street surveys to gather firsthand information and ensure a representative sample of the population.
The study that will shape the future of the Fallas
This analysis will provide valuable information for improving the organiztion of the Fallas and help in sustainable development. With these results, the Federació de Fallas de Gandia could promote initiatives that enhance the festival, foster community harmony, and minimize its environmental impact. The Universitat de València and the Federació de Fallas de Gandia encourage all residents to participate in the study. Their opinion is a kew to the future of the Fallas and Gandia.
