On 13 November, Meng Zhan successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled "South-South Cooperation and International Relations: China's strategy in Latin America between development aid, foreign policy and the demands of the national economy", under the supervision of Professor Raúl de Arriba Bueno and within the framework of the PhD programme in Social Sciences. 

The examining board that judged the doctoral thesis was formed by Professors Manuel Branco (University of Évora, Portugal), Artur Colom Jaen (University of Barcelona) and Olga Blasco Blasco (University of Valencia).
