The possibility to create bridges that favour the contemporary creativity transcends the unique and ephemeral support to the artists. The combination of public and private institutions together with the labour of the galleries is necessary to develop a commitment with the future of the plastic promotion and the thinking. The Acquisition Prize Cañada Blanch Foundation was born from this idea with the aim of promote and value artistic projects of Valencian galleries within the public academic framework that would allow its approach with the citizenship. The consolidation of this commitment when it comes to culture is in its fourth edition as the result of the joint work of these three pillars: the Contemporary Art Galleries Association of the Valencian Community LaVAC, mediator between the Valencian society and the artistic production; the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality, as a space of critical thinking, linked to the Valencian reality and to the heritage protection; and the Cañada Blanch Foundation, with a firm support to research and the social and arts debate.

From 7 to 23 April, the best works selected by art galleries that compose LaVac (the Contemporary Art Galleries Association of the Valencian Community) and opt to the Acquisition Prize of the Cañada Blanch Foundation will be exhibited at the Acadèmia Room of the La Nau, Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València

On Friday, 7 April 2017 at 19:30, this fourth edition of the exhibition “Acquisition Prize of the Cañada Blanch Foundation (FCB)” will be officially inaugurated in an event where will appear artists and gallerists that participate in this prize and where the winning work of this edition will be announced after the judgement of the jury that will meet that same morning.

There will be 13 galleries in this exhibition: Luis Adelantado, Galería9, Rosa Santos, Alba Cabrera, Set Espai d'Art, Espai Tactel, Plastic Murs, Galería Thema, Galería PazyComedias, Área 72, Pepita Lumier, Mr. Pink and Shiras.

Each gallery contributes with two works to the exhibition. The jury will choose among the 26 works one to be included in the Cañada Blanch Foundation Collection.

The jury is composed by Juan López-Trigo, president of the Cañada Blanch Foundation; Carlos Pascual de Miguel, owner of this foundation and art collector; Juan Viña, owner of FCB and doctor in Medicine; Lorena Corral, art historian, independent commissioner and director of the Contemporary Art Collection of the Coca-Cola Foundation; Carlos Delgado, commissioner of exhibitions and art critic and Norberto Piqueras, exhibition coordinator of the Cultural Centre La Nau.

This exhibition is a way of valuing the artistic proposals of Valencian galleries within an academic public framework that allows getting closer to the citizenship thanks to collaborative efforts made by Cañada Blanch Foundation, LaVAC and the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality.

In past editions, the winners were Rubén Guerrero (2014) from the Luis Adelantado gallery; Xisco Mensua (2015) of the Rosa Santos gallery and Juan Olivares (2016) of Set Espai d’Art. These three artists have an outstanding trajectory when it comes to contemporary creations.
