Basic Competences

  The doctoral studies guarantee, at least, the acquisition for the doctorate of the following basic competences as well as those that are part of the Spanish Qualification Framework for Higher Education.

  • CB1 Systematic understanding of a study field and control of skills and research methods related to such field.
  • CB2 Ability to conceive, design or create, put into practice and adopt a substantial process of research or creation.
  • CB3 Ability to contribute to the extension of the frontiers of knowledge through an original research.
  • CB4 Ability to perform a critical and assessment analysis and synthesis of new and complex ideas.
  • CB5 Ability of communication with the academic and scientific community and with society in general about their fields of knowledge in the modes and languages of regular use in their international scientific community.
  • CB6 Ability to promote, in academic and professional contexts, the scientific, technological, social, artistic or cultural advance within a knowledge-based society.

Personal abilities and skills 

  The obtention of the degree of Doctor must provide a high professional training in diverse fields, especially in those which require creativity and innovation. The doctors must have acquired, at least, the following personal abilities and skills for:

  • CA01 To get along in contexts in which there is little specific information.
  • CA02 To find the key questions that must be answered in order to solve a complex problem.
  • CA03 To design, create, develop and carry out new and innovative projects in their field of knowledge.
  • CA04 To work both as a team and independently in an international and multidisciplinary context.
  • CA05 To integrate knowledge, to deal with the complexity and to make judgements with limited information.
  • CA06 The intellectual criticism and defence of solutions.
