Mobility is considered an essential element for the training of young researchers, as it allows them to reach high levels of quality, internationalisation, innovation and recognition. That is why the thesis supervisor will encourage to undertake national and international stays of the doctoral students related to their doctoral thesis.

The supervisor will guide the doctoral student to identify the research group where the practice of these stays is more appropriate, so that they contribute in the most effective way to the training and acquisition of abilities of the doctoral students. Also, the supervisor of the thesis will strengthen the participation and presentation of results in international conferences related to the thesis matter.

The students of the Doctoral Programme in Advanced Hispanic Studies will be able to undertake brief stays in Spanish and foreign universities: for full time students the stay will be a maximum of three months and they can only do it for two years. The part-time doctoral students will be able to undertake stays for 1 month (on condition that their occupations allow it) they will be able to undertake 3 throughout the doctorate period. In this way, all the doctoral students of our programme, will have the enough time to stay in other universities to defend a European thesis. The interns will be able to undertake the brief stays allowed by the complementary grants of their respective scholarships.

The Department of Spanish of the University of Valencia does not count on the financing for subsidising the mobility of their doctoral students, therefore each doctoral student should look for external financing, through the diverse mobility, autonomic, national or international calls of the University of Valencia.
The mobility stays of students registered in the programme are managed with the help of their thesis supervisor, who will contact with a professor from other university who will tutor the doctoral student. In case of abroad stays, the programme will provide the contact and the necessary help with universities and research centres from other countries with the objective of reinforcing the internationalisation of the doctoral training.

The thesis supervisor and the tutors from the other university will establish the plan of activities which will be developed in the reception centre and these activities will be guided to the students' training with other research teams, in order to consult library collections or documentaries in the field of Spanish Philology, as well as learning new instrumental techniques and new methodologies, provided that they might be beneficial for the development of the doctoral thesis. The collaboration tradition of our doctoral programme with other national or international research centres, provides a wide range of collaboration with other external programmes to the University of Valencia.

To carry out these brief stays you should have the approval of the Doctoral Studies Committee, the interested persons should provide a justifying report (with a maximum extension of 1,000 words), in which the stay objectives are stated, information about the recipient centre and the justification of the suitability of the destination centre; all that supervised and with the approval of the thesis supervisor.

The Doctoral Studies Committee shall assess the viability of the application and the benefits that such proposal may provide to the development of the research training. Also, the Doctoral Studies Committee will request, if necessary, the acceptance of the receiving centre and shall confirm to the doctoral student the name of the tutors and their acceptance to supervise el work plan that will be carried out during the stay. The thesis supervisor will establish contact monthly with the supervisor in the host university and will be informed about the evolution and development of the work on behalf the doctoral student. This monitoring will be continuous and, in view of the results achievement, the work plan may be varied or extended.

On the other hand, these stays will be programmed in order to be carried out, but justified exceptions, in the ordinary activity periods of the freight centres.

At the end of the stay, you should give the supervision report of the stay to the Doctoral Studies Committee, signed by the tutor from the other university or research centre. The Doctoral Studies Committee, in view of the monitoring and activities report performed during the stay by the tutor and the report completed by the thesis supervisor about the doctoral student monitoring, if necessary, shall recognise the totality or part of these training activities.
